Queen Mercy Atang and her husband, David Oyekanmi, got married in March 2024. However, in October 2024, she unexpectedly unfollowed him on Instagram and took down their wedding photos, prompting widespread speculation about trouble in their marriage.
During a recent interview, the reality star clarified that the move was motivated by her choice to maintain privacy in her relationship.
“I was just trying to take my relationship off social media. Because my husband’s account is out there, a lot of girls feel the need to slide in his DM to say positive and negative things,” she explained.
Queen Atang shared that her actions were influenced by public figures who prefer to keep their spouses and personal lives away from public attention.
She acknowledged that the move triggered rumors and assumptions about the state of her marriage, which she hadn’t anticipated.
In response to the speculation, she later restored the deleted photos and re-added her husband’s name to her Instagram bio.
