Barbiecuefish Under Fire for Allegedly Faking Network During Kidney Donation Verification Call

Barbiecuefish Under Fire for Allegedly

Social media user @barbiecuefish is at the center of intense backlash after she allegedly faked a network issue during a verification call, right when she was asked to name the hospital where her sister is supposedly undergoing treatment for a kidney condition.

The incident has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter) after user @Hybrid_Ola shared a detailed account of what transpired during the call.

The Background

@barbiecuefish had earlier posted an emotional appeal, claiming that her sister needed a ₦10 million kidney transplant and soliciting donations from the public. According to reports, she successfully raised over ₦3.5 million from well-meaning Nigerians.

In a move to ensure transparency, some concerned donors and observers arranged a video/audio call with her to ask a few basic verification questions, chief among them being the name of the hospital treating her sister.

The Suspicious Call

But just as the question was asked, things took a bizarre turn.

Eyewitnesses from the call claimed that @barbiecuefish suddenly began acting as though her phone network had failed, repeatedly saying:

“Hello? Hello? You dey hear me? Abi the phone don off again? Hello…”

Seconds later, the call was disconnected, leaving participants highly suspicious of the timing and her behavior.

Public Response

As of 24 hours later, @barbiecuefish has not provided any proof of the alleged medical condition, hospital admission, or even a receipt of medical consultation, raising growing concerns that the appeal may have been a fabricated scam.

Users on X are now calling for:

  • Full accountability and transparency

  • Bank refund investigations

  • Public apology and possibly legal action

Some are even tagging law enforcement authorities and digital fraud watchdogs to investigate the matter.

Bigger Picture

This incident has once again highlighted the risks associated with unverified online crowdfunding appeals in Nigeria, where trust is fragile and scams are sadly common.

While some users are defending @barbiecuefish and hoping for a misunderstanding, the general sentiment online is leaning toward deep skepticism unless concrete proof is provided soon.
