Beyoncé Struggles to Sell Out London Shows as Cowboy Carter Tour Kicks Off Tonight

Beyoncé is set to launch her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter UK tour tonight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Still, shockingly, hundreds of tickets remain unsold just hours before the show is scheduled to begin.

Despite the stadium’s massive 62,000 capacity, over 500 seats were still available as of Thursday afternoon. Ticket prices currently range from £71 for obstructed view seats to £278 for premium spots — a stark contrast to the record-breaking demand of her 2023 Renaissance world tour, which sold out within minutes.

The lukewarm reception may stem from fans’ mixed reactions to the country-themed Cowboy Carter album, which marks a notable departure from the dance-heavy energy of Renaissance. Some fans who caught her on the last tour may be hesitant to return so soon, especially with prices now even higher than before.

Beyoncé’s U.S. leg of the tour also saw soft ticket sales, leading to significant price cuts. In some cities like Los Angeles, tickets reportedly dropped to as low as $35, excluding fees, in a last-minute bid to fill seats.

Meanwhile, her husband Jay-Z has faced personal challenges. Last year, the 55-year-old rapper was falsely accused of rape in a now-dismissed lawsuit tied to a 2000 MTV VMAs afterparty. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has since taken legal action against the attorney behind the claims and no longer faces any legal repercussions.

Despite recent controversies and sluggish ticket sales, Beyoncé and Jay-Z remain one of music’s most powerful couples, with a combined net worth estimated at $3 billion.

The Cowboy Carter tour continues in London on June 7, 10, 12, 14, and 16.
