Tragedy has struck Minnesota politics as former Democratic House Speaker, Melissa Hortman, and her husband, Mark, were fatally shot at their Brooklyn Park residence on June 14, 2025.
Authorities have named 57-year-old Vance Boelter as the primary suspect in the double homicide. Boelter remains at large, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find one victim in cardiac arrest, while the other was pronounced dead upon arrival. Additionally, a woman reportedly associated with Senator Hoffman sustained three gunshot wounds to her abdomen and arm during the incident.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has offered a $50,000 reward for any information leading to Boelter’s capture and conviction.
