Paris Saint-Germain cruised into the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup with a dominant 4-0 win over Inter Miami, powered by a brace from Portuguese midfielder Joao Neves.
The European champions wasted no time asserting their superiority at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Neves opened the scoring in the 6th minute, heading home from close range after a well-delivered Vitinha free-kick.
The 19-year-old struck again in the 39th minute, finishing off a slick move that began with Bradley Barcola and Fabian Ruiz. Ruiz later had a goal of his own ruled out for offside.
An own goal by Tomas Aviles, who deflected Desire Doue’s cross into his own net, and a powerful strike from Achraf Hakimi in first-half stoppage time completed the rout before the break.
PSG eased off in the second half but maintained control, neutralising former talisman Lionel Messi, who was unable to find a breakthrough for Inter Miami.
PSG will now face either Bayern Munich or Flamengo in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
