Former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola have been appointed interim Chairman and Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has now been adopted as the official political platform of Nigeria’s united opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This development was confirmed after a high-level opposition meeting in Abuja, where leaders such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi resolved to work together under one party.
Former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi has also been named interim National Publicity Secretary, as the coalition aims to present a formidable challenge to President Bola Tinubu and the ruling APC.
The ADC, previously led by Ralph Nwosu, will be formally unveiled under its new leadership in Abuja on Wednesday. The move marks a significant turning point in Nigerian politics, signaling a rare alliance between prominent figures from the PDP, Labour Party, NNPP, SDP, and others.
