Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has firmly denied rumors suggesting his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The clarification came via a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Saturday in Osogbo. Adeleke described the reports of his alleged move to the APC as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard them.
The statement reads:
“Governor Adeleke who restated his preoccupation with the implementation of the administration’s five point agenda urged Osun people to ignore fake news, promising more delivery of good governance and democratic dividends.
I assure the good people of Osun that I remain part and parcel of the PDP family. I am not defecting to any party.”
Governor Adeleke also reassured his supporters that he remains the leader of the PDP in Osun State and is focused on delivering the promises of his administration.
Earlier in the week, it was reported that the Osun State chapter of the PDP had dismissed claims of Adeleke’s involvement in any political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a press briefing in Osogbo, Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, emphasized the party’s unity and reaffirmed the governor’s loyalty to the PDP. He also dismissed suggestions linking Adeleke to any coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Bisi stated that the party remains focused and united under its current leadership and has no intention of joining any new alliance or political merger.
