Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has formally responded to a federal lawsuit brought against him by Rymir Satterthwaite, a 32-year-old man who claims to be his biological son. The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, dismissed the allegations as false and accused Satterthwaite and his godmother of engaging in a long-running campaign of harassment.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Jay-Z referred to the federal case filed on May 6 as “just the latest” episode in what he described as a “decades-long harassment.”
“The fabricated allegations and claims have been addressed – and rejected – in multiple other courts, and continued harassment and disregard of those orders has already resulted in a contempt order,” the documents stated.
Satterthwaite alleges that his late mother, Wanda, had a relationship with Jay-Z in the early 1990s. Following her death, Satterthwaite was raised by his godmother, who has reportedly faced “unrelenting efforts by (Jay-Z) and his enablers to suppress the truth and silence those who dared to speak it.”
The lawsuit accuses Jay-Z of refusing to take a paternity test or acknowledge the claims directly. Satterthwaite maintains that his intention is not to gain fame or financial support, but simply to obtain answers about his identity.
“Why can’t he prove me wrong?” he told Daily Mail in December.
“Go to the courtroom and do what everyone else has to do. I can take a no. I can take being embarrassed. I just can’t take him not saying anything. It is not fair.”
Jay-Z, who is married to global music icon Beyoncé, has not commented publicly on the case outside of the legal filings. The situation continues to draw public attention, with many waiting to see how the court will rule in this latest chapter of a long-running dispute.
