Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has reaffirmed his membership in the Labour Party (LP) and officially declared his intention to run for president again.

Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic supporters in Igbo, the former Anambra governor dispelled circulating rumors that he had parted ways with the Labour Party.

“I am still a member of the Labour Party. I have not left, and I have no plans to leave,” Obi stated emphatically.

He went on to confirm that he would be contesting the 2027 presidential election, asserting his competence above all other aspiring candidates.

“Others have a right to run for office. I have not asked anyone not to run, but if anyone asks you, tell them I am running for office, and I am the most competent amongst all,” Obi declared.

His remarks come amid growing speculation over his political future and internal tensions within the Labour Party. Obi’s public endorsement of George Moghalu and his vocal commitment to the party appear to be efforts to solidify unity within LP ranks ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Peter Obi’s declaration has already sparked reactions across political circles, with many viewing it as the formal beginning of his 2027 campaign.
