Cole Palmer delivered a sensational performance as Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the Club World Cup final on Sunday, securing the Blues’ first title under manager Enzo Maresca.
Palmer scored twice and assisted once, playing a pivotal role in Chelsea’s dominant display. His clinical finishing and creativity overwhelmed PSG’s defence, earning him the Man of the Match award.
With this performance, Palmer became just the second Chelsea player in the Premier League era to register multiple goal contributions in multiple finals, joining Didier Drogba, who did so in the 2005 Community Shield and 2007 EFL Cup final.
The defeat marks only the second time in PSG history that they’ve lost a final by more than one goal, excluding Super Cups. The last instance was a 2-0 loss to Gueugnon in the 2000 Coupe de la Ligue final.
Chelsea’s commanding win caps off a remarkable campaign in the tournament, and Palmer’s breakout year continues to solidify his status as one of English football’s brightest young stars.
