Nollywood actress Efe Irele is basking in the success of her debut cinema project, My Mother Is A Witch, which has officially surpassed the N100 million mark at the Nigerian box office.
The emotional milestone marks a major achievement for Efe, who made her debut as a cinema executive producer on the supernatural drama. In an Instagram post on Monday, the actress expressed deep gratitude to fans and supporters.
“My heart is so full! My first cinema dance as a producer and I join the 100m+ gang?!?! It can only be God and YOU my beautiful people who took out TIME and MONEY to go support me!” she wrote. “I’m forever grateful and want to let you know that THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!”
Efe, moved to tears, added:
“I’m so so happy and as tears of joy roll down my eyes as I type this… I say THANK YOU NIGERIA! I’m proud of me! I’m proud of my achievements, my strength and determination! I wish my father was here to see this! Papa, I hope I’m making you proud!”
A Milestone for Nollywood
My Mother Is A Witch, which premiered in cinemas on May 23, 2025, is directed and written by acclaimed filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan. The project was produced by Anthill Studios in collaboration with FrameFlix HQ, and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.
The film tells the story of a London-based fashion editor who returns to her hometown in Benin to confront dark family secrets and haunting childhood memories — including claims that her mother is a witch.
Starring Efe Irele in the lead role, the movie also features Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, Neo Akpofure, Nike Adams, and Osazuwa Christabel.

My Mother Is A Witch had a stellar opening weekend, raking in N26 million, and by the end of its first week had grossed N53.8 million. Crossing N100 million cements its place among Nigeria’s top-grossing films of 2025.
“This film has been a true test of my strength, resilience and emotions as a human being and as a woman,” Efe noted in her message. “But guess what?! We did that!!!!!!”
