The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party has appointed Senator Usman Nenadi as the Interim National Chairman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as the Interim National Secretary.
The appointments were made during the party’s NEC meeting held on Friday in Abuja, where members unanimously agreed to install an interim leadership structure pending the conduct of a national convention.
The newly constituted interim working committee is tasked with overseeing the party’s operations and preparing for internal elections that will usher in a new executive committee.
In a move to ensure a smooth transition, the NEC also approved a comprehensive timetable for congresses across all levels — including ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses — leading up to the national convention.
Additionally, the party’s National Secretariat has been directed to publish clear guidelines and timelines for the congresses to guarantee a fair, transparent, and inclusive electoral process.
