Nigerian content creator and streamer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Peller, has accused a police officer of physically assaulting him during a stop-and-search incident in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The incident occurred while Peller was returning from Ikorodu. In a video shared on his Instagram page, he is seen sitting in the back seat of his car, visibly shaken, as officers surrounded the vehicle.
According to Peller, the situation escalated when one of the officers tried to forcibly seize his phone before allegedly punching him in the face.
Narrating his experience, Peller wrote:
“I was coming back from Ikorodu and this happened in Lekki. The policeman said we should open the boot, and we did. Next thing, he said everybody should come down for searching. I just carried my phone in case anything happened. Next thing, he punched me in the face. The remaining policemen started saying they didn’t know I was the one. So this is what you do to random people? 😡😡”
The video has sparked outrage on social media, with fans and human rights advocates demanding accountability from the Nigerian Police Force. As of now, the police authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
