A man who has long claimed to be the son of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has officially dropped his federal lawsuit against the rapper.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Rymir Satterthwaite filed a notice of withdrawal, effectively ending the most recent chapter of a legal battle that has stretched over a decade.
Satterthwaite addressed the decision in a video shared on social media over the weekend.
“It has been a crazy couple of weeks. I have not stopped my fight,” he said.
“I did withdraw my case,” he continued, hinting at unseen developments, “a lot going on behind closed doors.”
“We got to step back and play chess, not checkers.”
Jay-Z has maintained that Satterthwaite’s claims are baseless. In 2022, the rapper secured an injunction against Satterthwaite for what the court described as “frivolous” filings. His legal team also demanded that this latest federal case be dismissed immediately.
Jay-Z asserted that he has been dealing with the same claims since 2010, stating that Satterthwaite, along with his late mother and caretaker, has continually harassed him. He added that the allegations have been “addressed” and “rejected” by multiple courts “time and time again.”
The Roc Nation founder, who is married to global superstar Beyoncé, called the ongoing legal pursuit a “false assertion” that has led to years of unwarranted court appearances.
