Aisha Yesufu Accuses President Tinubu of Undermining National Institutions

Prominent social critic and advocate for good governance, Aisha Yesufu, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of systematically undermining Nigeria’s institutions.

In a post shared on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Yesufu expressed outrage over what she described as the President’s disregard for institutional integrity.

“We are watching Tinubu destroying every fabric of our institutions. Desecrating them!” she wrote.

Her reaction comes on the heels of President Tinubu’s decision to approve a one-year extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

Adeniyi, who was appointed as Comptroller-General in October 2023 following a stint in acting capacity, was initially due to retire on August 31, 2025. However, with the extension, he will now remain in office until August 2026.

The extension has sparked mixed reactions, with critics like Yesufu seeing it as part of a broader pattern of executive overreach and disregard for institutional norms.
