Instagram has officially introduced a new repost feature, allowing users to easily share Reels and feed posts from others directly to their profiles — a move that mirrors TikTok’s popular repost system.
The update includes a dedicated “Reposts” tab on user profiles, where shared content will be displayed separately from original posts. Reposts will also appear in followers’ main feeds, boosting visibility for both the sharer and the original creator.
This change marks Instagram’s latest push to promote content discovery and enhance social engagement.
Alongside the repost function, Instagram is also rolling out a “Friends” tab that highlights what users’ friends have liked, commented on, or reposted, and a new opt-in location map feature similar to Snapchat’s Snap Map.
Meta says these updates are designed to strengthen user connections and make Instagram a more interactive and shareable platform.
The repost feature is currently rolling out globally.
