The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed viral claims that popular TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, was kidnapped.
Social media went into a frenzy in the early hours of Thursday after a trending video showed the entertainer being forcefully dragged out of his car by armed men suspected to be kidnappers.
The clip, which circulated across TikTok, Instagram, and X, captured Peller arguing with the men before being pulled towards a white minibus. The livestream ended abruptly, sparking fears that he had been whisked away.
The incident triggered widespread panic online, with fans and fellow content creators calling on security agencies to intervene urgently.
Reacting on Channels TV, the Lagos Police Command spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that Peller was never abducted.
“The viral story of TikTok influencer Peller being kidnapped is not true. He is safe. There was an incident, but it was not a case of kidnapping as being peddled online,” Hundeyin said. “We advise the public to always verify information before sharing.”
He further revealed that preliminary findings showed the influencer’s vehicle, phones, and other belongings were intact. According to him, Peller is at home, safe and sound, while investigations into the incident continue.
