Senior adviser to the President on digital and creative economy, Fegho Umunubo, has been suspended from office, QEDNG reports.
Umunubo, who was seconded to the Office of the Vice President, was reportedly asked to step aside over allegations of abuse of office.
A Presidency source told QEDNG on Tuesday: “He has been suspended for more than two months now. Not sure he is coming back.”
According to insiders, one of the allegations against Umunubo is that he signed agreements on behalf of the Nigerian government without proper authorisation.
Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, is said to be among those who petitioned the Presidency over his activities, accusing him of interfering in the affairs of agencies under her ministry. Aso Rock is currently investigating the allegations before making a final decision on his appointment.
Away from the corridors of power, Umunubo has also been drawn into a public spat with filmmaker Arese Ugwu, producer of The Smart Money Woman and Lara Unlimited.
Ugwu accused him on social media of owing her N10 million in sponsorship, claiming he failed to deliver on financial agreements. She further alleged that the suspended aide exploited his office to win influence among creatives and boost his personal profile.
The Presidency is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
