UEFA has given Barcelona special permission to return to the Spotify Camp Nou in the middle of the UEFA Champions League group phase, even if they are unable to play their opening clash against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at the venue.
Ordinarily, UEFA does not permit clubs to switch stadiums mid-competition, but in this case, they have deemed Barça’s situation a matter of force majeure, given the ongoing renovation works at the Camp Nou.
This ruling means Barcelona could play their first “home” UCL fixture elsewhere before returning to their iconic ground once construction progresses enough to allow matches.
The development comes as a boost for fans who have long awaited the club’s return to their historic stadium, which has been under redevelopment since 2023 as part of the Espai Barça project.
