South Africa can’t stop Super Eagles World Cup ambition – Nwabali

Transfer: I am yet to receive any offers since AFCON – Nwabali

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome South Africa in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash on Tuesday night in Bloemfontein.

The matchday eight encounter is a must-win for the Super Eagles, who currently sit third in Group C with 10 points. South Africa, on the other hand, lead the group with 16 points from seven matches.

The Bafana Bafana are expected to enjoy massive home support, creating a difficult atmosphere for the visitors. But Nwabali remains upbeat about Nigeria’s chances.

“I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. I don’t see them beating us. I know we respect them, but they are not favourites.”

Acknowledging the form of the hosts, he added:

“They are doing well, even topping the group. I believe it is going to be a tough game tomorrow but we will come out stronger.”

Victory in Bloemfontein would see Nigeria close the gap on South Africa and boost their hopes of securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
