Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Threatens Legal Action Over Resumption Delay

Lawyer Slams Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has issued a stern warning to the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Kamorudeen Ogunlana, threatening legal action if she is not allowed to resume her legislative duties by Monday, September 15, 2025.

The notice was conveyed in a letter dated September 10, signed by her lawyer, Michael Numa (SAN).

“Take notice that failure to comply by Monday, 15th September 2025, will leave us with no alternative but to initiate proceedings against you personally and in your official capacity,” the letter read.

According to Numa, the CNA’s refusal to obey an existing court judgment violates both the law and the Code of Conduct for Public Officers. He added that the legal steps under consideration could include contempt charges, disciplinary action, and holding the CNA accountable for instigating a breach of peace.

“We strongly advise that you reconsider your untenable stance and comply with the Constitution and extant judicial orders,” he wrote.

The development comes after an earlier letter from the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Yahaya Danzaria, which informed Akpoti-Uduaghan that she could not resume her duties because the matter of her suspension was still before the court.
