Ganduje Sets Condition for Kwankwaso’s Return to APC

Ganduje

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso can only return to the ruling party if he agrees to abide by its constitution and rules.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Ganduje stressed that the APC does not offer special treatment to politicians seeking to return, adding that those who left must also face the political consequences of their past decisions.

His comment comes amid reports suggesting Kwankwaso had reached out to APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, about a possible defection. Kwankwaso, however, dismissed the claims, describing them as baseless.

Reacting to the speculation, Ganduje likened any move by Kwankwaso to rejoin the APC to “licking his vomit,” insisting that the former Kano governor would first have to admit his mistakes before seeking a fresh start in the party.

On the state of APC in Kano, Ganduje confirmed that the party had resolved its internal divisions and said stakeholders at a recent Abuja meeting reviewed the 2023 election performance and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

He also dismissed talk of a rift between himself and Tinubu, affirming that their relationship remains strong and that Kano APC is determined to reclaim the state in the 2027 elections.
