Nigerian singer and showbiz entrepreneur, Darey Art-Alade, has opened up about how he and his wife, Deola, built a thriving professional and personal life together.
Speaking in a recent interview, the 43-year-old revealed that their bond grew naturally from a deep-rooted friendship that has continued to shape both their marriage and business.
According to Darey, while he focuses on the creative vision, Deola has taken charge of the business side of their brand.
“We always just do things together. Once you enjoy each other’s company and admire each other, it becomes natural. She even opened my social media accounts for me back when I was still an artiste — that’s the level of friendship,” he said.
He explained that their teamwork evolved organically, with both learning and borrowing from each other’s strengths.
“We cross-pollinated. I learn a lot from her, and she’s also picked up a lot from me, especially on the entertainment side, which wasn’t her background. Success doesn’t happen instantly; it’s about growing, complementing each other, and covering each other’s weaknesses.”
For Darey, the key to a successful partnership lies in cooperation, understanding roles, and maintaining unity in the face of challenges.
“One person cannot do everything. Try not to have a chip on your shoulder — save that for outsiders. It’s both of you against anybody else. Behind closed doors, you can figure out what went wrong or how to improve.”
