Life at Aso Rock lonely – First Lady

Remi Tinubu Receives Chieftaincy Title

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has described life inside the Aso Rock Presidential Villa as “quite secluded,” noting that she turned to philanthropy and ministry to stay engaged.

She made the revelation in her 52-page memoir, The Journey of Grace: Giving Thanks in All Things, released to mark her 65th birthday. The book, spanning 2021 to 2025, documents her spiritual journey alongside her husband’s rise to the presidency, with a foreword written by Dr. Folashade Olukoya of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.

“Life at the (Resident) Presidential Villa can be quite secluded. So getting busy when I do not have much to do, Daughters of Zelophehad Ministries came quite handy,” she wrote.

Through the DOZ Ministries, Mrs. Tinubu launched a podcast series, The Conversation, delivering monthly messages to young women and married women. She explained that the project fulfilled a promise she made to God—to keep speaking to young women if her husband became President.

The First Lady emphasized that her outreach remained non-political, recalling how she often visited universities before 2023 to speak to female students “at the crossroads of life trying to understand the true meaning of their purpose.”
The First Lady added that the podcast was designed to be short and simple since “our young people get distracted easily.”

Following President Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, 2023, the First Family delayed moving into the Villa due to renovations, initially residing at Defence House and later at the Glass House before settling into the main residence.
