Anambra guber: I support Labour Party but all contestants are my friends — Peter Obi

‘Women not as corrupt as men’ – Peter Obi

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has reaffirmed his commitment to a free, fair, and credible election in the upcoming Anambra governorship poll scheduled for November 8.

Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, Obi clarified that while he remains a dedicated member of the Labour Party and supports its candidate, his foremost concern is ensuring that the will of the people prevails at the ballot.

“For this election, my party is the Labour Party. I want a free and fair election. All the contestants are my friends. As a member of Labour Party, I am supporting our candidate, but not to the extent of vote buying because I can never buy votes,” peter Obi stated.

He stressed that his support for the party’s candidate does not extend to any form of electoral malpractice, emphasizing that the people of Anambra must be allowed to freely choose their next leader.

“I cannot go to the extent of doing anything untoward for the election. I want the election to be totally free and fair. I’m not on the ballot, and I believe that all those contesting are related to me one way or the other. Let Anambra people decide who will be their governor. People should not indulge in vote buying. I’m not against any of them,” he added.

Peter Obi, who left office 12 years ago at the age of 42, noted that he has no personal or political stake in the outcome of the election, reiterating that his only interest lies in the progress and integrity of Anambra State’s democratic process
