Robert Lewandowski delivered a stunning performance on Sunday night, netting a hat-trick as Barcelona defeated Celta Vigo 4–2 in La Liga, cutting Real Madrid’s lead at the top of the table down to three points.
The Polish striker’s treble came as Hansi Flick’s men capitalized on Real Madrid’s earlier 0–0 draw against Rayo Vallecano, keeping their title hopes alive.
Teen sensation Lamine Yamal also got on the scoresheet in another thrilling display from Barcelona’s attacking front, while Marcus Rashford contributed two assists.
Despite Frenkie de Jong’s late red card for a second bookable offence, the Catalans had already sealed a comfortable victory.
Barcelona took an early lead in the 10th minute after Marcos Alonso handled Fermin Lopez’s shot, allowing Lewandowski to convert from the spot. However, Celta Vigo equalised immediately, exploiting Barca’s high line as Sergio Carreira raced clear to slot past Wojciech Szczesny.
The champions pressed relentlessly, with Lopez and Rashford both hitting the woodwork before Lewandowski restored Barca’s advantage on 37 minutes, turning in a precise Rashford cross that slipped under Ionut Radu.
Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in the second half with a trademark finish, while Yamal added Barcelona’s fourth to seal the win at Balaídos.
Flick’s side showed greater intensity despite missing key players such as Pedri, Raphinha, and Joan Garcia, bouncing back from their midweek 3–3 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League.
With the victory, Barcelona move within three points of Real Madrid as the title race heats up.
