Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could give current boss Mikel Artetaa strategic advantage in the Premier League title race — but cautioned against depending on it too heavily.
Arsenal head into the international break four points clear of Manchester City after a 2–2 draw with Sunderland at the weekend.
Ahead of that fixture, Arteta confirmed he has been consulting AI tools to assist with tactical decisions and performance analysis.
Speaking on the development, Wenger praised the technology’s potential but urged coaches to remain the ultimate decision-makers.
“AI can help to make better decisions. It has a fantastic quality — it can absorb millions of situations and give an answer in a second,” Wenger said.
“But what is dangerous is if the science dominates the decisions. As long as the human being keeps control, authority, and power to make the decision, you can use any scientific tool.”
Arsenal will return from the FIFA international break with a high-stakes North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, a fixture that could prove decisive in their title push.
