2027: Tinubu’s Record Will Secure Re-election — Shettima

Kashim Shettima

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office is strong enough to guarantee his re-election in 2027.

Shettima made the statement while addressing the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

According to the vice-president, electoral success is not determined by social media debates but by solid political structures, credibility and effective leadership.

“Elections are not won by noise or nostalgia. Elections are not conducted on Facebook or Twitter. They are won by coalitions, credibility and conviction,” he said.

Shettima argued that Tinubu’s vast political experience and governance record place him ahead of any potential challenger, insisting that anyone seeking to contest against the president in 2027 is already setting themselves up for defeat.

“With the experience of our president as our shield and the lessons of the past as our guide, I believe that 2027 is not a gamble; it is a responsibility,” he said, adding, “And by the fear of God, we shall have a renewable blessing.”

He, however, acknowledged that Nigeria remains a democratic state where every eligible citizen has the constitutional right to contest elections.

Shettima added that the APC is approaching the 2027 general elections with confidence, citing what he described as the party’s strong leadership base and record in governance.
