Taylor Swift Donates $1 Million to Charity in Honour of Her Father

Taylor Swift’s Father, Scott Swift, Recovering After Major Heart Surgery

Taylor Swift has paid a heartfelt tribute to her father, Scott Swift, by donating $1 million (£740,000) to charity.

Earlier this year, the global music star revealed that her father had undergone quintuple bypass surgery after doctors discovered five blockages in his heart. Following the procedure, Swift shared that Scott, 73, was doing “incredible” as he recovered.

On Tuesday, officials from the American Heart Association confirmed that the Opalite singer had made a substantial personal donation to the organisation. The contribution is expected to support a wide range of initiatives focused on heart health.

“Taylor Swift’s remarkable generosity will create lasting change far beyond its financial value,” said the organisation’s chief executive officer, Nancy Brown. “Her commitment to supporting her father will make so many others aware of the need to take their own heart health seriously, strengthen prevention efforts, and improve controllable risk factors – ultimately helping more people live longer, healthier lives.”

Brown explained that the funds would be directed toward research, public education, CPR training, and the development of updated medical guidelines. She also referenced Swift’s long association with the “heart hands” gesture, noting its symbolic alignment with the organisation’s mission.

“Taylor has long been associated with the symbol of heart hands. At the American Heart Association, we proudly use that same gesture to honour all who have been affected – our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, spouses, and so many others. My hope is that together we can raise our collective heart hands and drive meaningful change against this disease, shaping a healthier future for generations to come,” she added.

Swift has not publicly commented on the donation.

In addition to the contribution to the American Heart Association, it was also confirmed that the 36-year-old singer donated another $1 million to Feeding America, a non-profit network of food banks across the United States.

Feeding America’s chief executive officer, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, shared her appreciation in a statement posted on Instagram.

“We are incredibly grateful for Taylor Swift’s $1 million gift to Feeding America,” she wrote. “This holiday season, her continued support is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we unite to end hunger. When we join together alongside people facing hunger, we can make sure families have a full table this holiday season and beyond.”

The twin donations highlight Taylor Swift’s continued commitment to philanthropy, using her platform and resources to support both health and hunger relief causes.
