President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting religious freedom and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians, regardless of faith.
In a goodwill message to Christians across the country on Wednesday to mark Christmas, the President reflected on the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ and the positive impact Christians have continued to make in Nigeria’s development.
“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us also reflect on the many contributions that Christians in Nigeria, as followers of Christ, have made and continue to make toward the progress of the country,” Tinubu said.
He noted that the teachings of Christ and the message of the Gospel have inspired many Christians to care for the vulnerable and less privileged in society.
The President assured Nigerians that his government remains committed to upholding religious liberty and protecting citizens of all faiths from violence.
“As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence,” he stated.
Tinubu also praised individuals and groups promoting peace, tolerance, and harmony in their communities, adding that the Christmas season serves as a reminder of hope despite the nation’s challenges.
Reaffirming his administration’s stance on national security, the President said his government remains resolute in safeguarding Nigeria’s unity and stability.
“All Nigerians have the right to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity,” he added.
