The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has taken a new wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh, sparking public attention amid Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.
The marriage was announced on Friday via a Facebook post by Abraham Double-d Dajoh, who welcomed Queen Zaynab into the Dajoh family on behalf of relatives and supporters of the SGF.
In the post, the family described the union as a joyful development and extended Christmas and New Year wishes to well-wishers, while urging continued support for Akume. They also formally welcomed the new bride to Benue State, Mbakor—the seat of Tiv leadership—and the Dajoh family.
Queen Zaynab was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. Their marriage, which began with a traditional ceremony in March 2016, ended in August 2017.
The development comes at a time Nigeria is facing heightened security concerns, including terrorist and bandit attacks in parts of the country. Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on terrorist enclaves in North-West Nigeria, a move that has further drawn international attention to Nigeria’s security situation.
