Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has revealed that she is considering quitting movie production after suffering heavy financial losses.
On her Instagram page, the actress disclosed that she has spent over ₦80 million producing films since September but has not earned more than ₦1 million in returns.
Expressing her frustration, Nkechi said the poor reception of her movies has discouraged her from continuing as a producer, noting that audiences tend only to support films that are heavily hyped.
“I give up. I no do again, abeg. I have spent over 80 million naira producing movies since September, and I haven’t received even one million back,” she wrote.
She added that even industry colleagues she supported in the past were unable to help her projects gain traction.
“As una no gree watch film if the movie is not over-hyped, I don try. The ones we were there for sef no even fit help,” she lamented.
Nkechi concluded by stating that she would rather focus on travelling and enjoying her life than continue investing in film production without returns.
“I am done, abeg. Make I go back to flying around the world,” she added.
The actress’ revelation has sparked reactions online, with fans and colleagues expressing sympathy and calling attention to the financial challenges faced by independent Nollywood producers.
