Roberto Carlos Undergoes Emergency Heart Surgery

Real Madrid and Brazil legend Roberto Carlos has been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery after doctors discovered a heart issue.

The 52-year-old former footballer was reportedly spending time with his family in Brazil when he was taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Roberto Carlos underwent a procedure that was initially expected to last about 40 minutes but extended to nearly three hours due to complications. Despite this, the surgery was successful and the former left-back is now said to be out of danger.

Further reports revealed that a full-body MRI scan detected the heart problem, prompting doctors to immediately carry out surgery to fit a tube. Carlos will remain under medical observation for at least 48 hours as a precaution.

Confirming his condition through his entourage, the 2002 World Cup winner said: “I’m fine now.”

Roberto Carlos enjoyed a glittering career, spending 11 years at Real Madrid and winning multiple honours, including three UEFA Champions League titles.
