AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Boycott Marrakech Trip Over Unpaid Bonuses

Super Eagles Rise to 41st

Members of the Super Eagles squad and their coaching crew have reportedly refused to travel to Marrakech following the non-payment of outstanding bonuses.

The development was disclosed by BBC Africa journalist Oluwashina Okeleji, who is currently on ground in Morocco. Nigeria are scheduled to face Algeria in the quarter-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday evening.

According to reports, the players are yet to receive their bonuses for the four matches they have played so far in the tournament. The Super Eagles recorded victories over Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda during the group stage, before securing a dominant 4–0 win against Mozambique in the Round of 16.

In protest over the unresolved payments, the team has reportedly decided to suspend all travel and training activities until the issue surrounding their bonuses is addressed.
