Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has secured the release of TikToker Eedie Bliss after withdrawing all charges against her, following widespread public backlash on social media.
Eedie Bliss was released from detention on Saturday, January 17, 2026, after the actress decided to discontinue the case amid growing criticism online. The situation gained heightened attention after outspoken social media commentator, VeryDarkMan, publicly called out Mercy Johnson, accusing her of oppression and emphasizing that defamation is a civil, not criminal, matter.
VeryDarkMan joined other Nigerians in demanding the TikToker’s release and reportedly issued an ultimatum to the actress. Hours later, he confirmed that Eedie Bliss had been freed.
Announcing the development on Instagram, he wrote: “@MercyJohnsonOkojie, thank you very much, my GREATEST OF ALL TIME, for dropping the case. Moving on, I am buying all defamation cases against Mercy Johnson and her family. The bullying is too much. You all should leave her family alone.”
According to CREEBHILSS, Eedie Bliss had been arrested days earlier over a video she posted on TikTok in December 2025 involving Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie.
In the controversial video, the TikTok creator alleged that Prince Okojie had recently purchased a house for a pregnant mistress. She further claimed, while citing Cutie Juls as her source, that the actress allegedly collaborated with the mistress’ house help to cause her to lose the pregnancy.
With the charges now dropped, the episode appears to have come to a close, though it has continued to spark conversations online about celebrity influence, defamation, and the limits of social media commentary.
