The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially handed over the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) flag to Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda following the conclusion of the 2025 tournament.
The three East African countries are set to jointly host the 2027 edition of Africa’s premier football competition, marking a significant milestone for the region.
The symbolic handover took place shortly before Senegal were crowned champions for the second time in their history, after edging hosts Morocco 1–0 in extra time during a dramatic final in Rabat on Sunday.
The ceremony signals the beginning of full preparations, as Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda step into the spotlight ahead of the highly anticipated tournament.
CAF’s decision is seen as a historic moment for East African football, as it will be the first time the three nations come together to co-host the continent’s biggest and most prestigious football event.
