Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said he will personally call Mikel Arteta to congratulate him if Arsenal go on to win the Premier League title this season.
Guardiola made the remarks on Friday while speaking to the media ahead of City’s home clash against Wolves.
The Spaniard noted that Arteta has always shown respect by being among the first to congratulate him whenever Manchester City lifted the league title in previous seasons.
“If Arsenal win, I will be the first to call Mikel (Arteta) and congratulate him, as he has done in the past,” Guardiola said.
“I also congratulated Arne Slot last season.
“We will then improve as a team.”
His comments reflect the mutual respect between both managers, who previously worked together at Manchester City before Arteta took charge at Arsenal.
Arsenal currently sit seven points clear of Manchester City heading into this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, putting them in a strong position in the title race.
