Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja following a week-long diplomatic and economic engagement in Guinea-Conakry and Switzerland.
In a statement released by his media aide, Stanley Nwokocha, Shettima arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Saturday.
During the trip, the Vice President represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to regional solidarity in West Africa.
Shettima later proceeded to Switzerland, where he led Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos. He said the mission aligned with Nigeria’s renewed drive to reposition its economy under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
One of the major highlights of Nigeria’s participation at Davos was the inauguration of Nigeria House — the country’s first-ever sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade. The facility was unveiled as a permanent investment hub designed to showcase opportunities in solid minerals, agriculture, and the digital economy.
While in Davos, Shettima was joined by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Minister of Finance Wale Edun to promote the Accra Reset Initiative. The initiative focuses on advocating African industrialisation powered by domestic capital and value chains rather than dependence on foreign aid.
The Vice President’s return marks the conclusion of what officials describe as a strategic mission aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic ties and boosting its global economic profile.
