I should be a case study for young girls – First Lady Oluremi Tinubu

Remi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said her personal aspiration is to serve as a positive role model and case study for young girls, amid what she described as a growing lack of relatable figures for today’s youth.

She made the remarks on Thursday, January 29, during the inauguration of the Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Dream Centre at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady said she had always believed in the power of leading by example, especially for the younger generation.

“All along, I have been thinking that I should be a case study for young girls,” she said. “They talk about the girl child all the time, but nowadays people no longer have role models. We live in an age where, even when people are doing well, out of envy, many untrue things are said about them on the internet, and our young people do not really see many people to emulate.”

Tinubu noted that role models played a major role in shaping her own life and urged young girls to dream positively and pursue their ambitions with focus and determination.

Recalling her childhood dreams, she said she always wanted to become a teacher and eventually achieved that goal.

“As young as I was then, just like the two girls who welcomed me here, I knew I wanted to be a teacher, and I ended up being one,” she added.
