Arsenal eased fears of any late-season wobble in their Premier League title chase with a commanding 4–0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.

The result moves Mikel Arteta’s side seven points clear at the top, ahead of Manchester City and Aston Villa, who are both in action on Sunday, as the Gunners close in on their first league title in 22 years.

Arsenal came into the game under scrutiny after a surprise home defeat to Manchester United last weekend, which capped a run of just two points from a possible nine. Having finished runners-up in each of the past three seasons, questions had resurfaced about whether Arteta’s team could hold their nerve in a title race.

Those doubts were further tested before kick-off when Bukayo Saka was ruled out after picking up an injury in the warm-up. However, his replacement Noni Madueke delivered a standout performance that helped Arsenal regain authority.

Madueke provided the breakthrough, whipping in a dangerous cross that was headed home by Martin Zubimendi to open the scoring. The winger then caused more problems before half-time, with Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow only able to parry another threatening delivery into his own net.

Despite coming into the match in solid form, Leeds — who remain just six points above the relegation zone — struggled to contain Arsenal’s attacking movement. Their first home loss since November was sealed in the second half when Viktor Gyökeres latched onto a cross from Gabriel Martinelli to smash in his 11th goal since his move from Sporting Lisbon.

Substitute Gabriel Jesus rounded off the rout late on with a blistering strike four minutes from time, completing a statement win for the visitors.

With momentum restored and a commanding lead at the summit, Arsenal’s response at Elland Road reinforced their credentials as genuine title favourites as the season enters its decisive phase.
