Actress and media personality Keke Palmer has made it clear that cohabitation is not part of her relationship plans, even if marriage is involved.
Speaking during an interview on Today, Palmer said she highly values her personal space and alone time, noting that living separately helps her stay balanced. Referencing Whoopi Goldberg’s famous quote, she said: “I don’t want nobody in my house,” adding, “That’s real.”
Palmer, who shares a two-year-old son, Leodis, with her ex-partner Darius Jackson, explained that she is open to a compromise—but on her own terms. According to her, a future partner could live on the same property but in a separate space.
“You can be in the guest house. We can be on the same land, but I’m over there and he’s over there,” she said, adding that at best, it would mean separate rooms.
The actress believes living apart can actually keep a relationship exciting and fresh. She described the idea of maintaining separate spaces as something that adds fun and anticipation.
“Think about how fun it would be to be like, ‘I’m going over to my man’s house.’ He’d probably make a mess at my place if he stayed over. I want to go sit on his couch,” Keke Palmer explained.
Above all, Keke Palmer stressed that her priority remains her role as a mother. She noted that parenting requires focus and responsibility, and having her own space helps her stay grounded and present for her son.
According to her, maintaining personal boundaries allows her to “be the best me” — both for herself and for Leodis.
