Haaland’s Late Penalty Earns Manchester City Dramatic 2–1 Win at Liverpool

Manchester City kept their Premier League title chase alive as Erling Haaland struck a stoppage-time penalty to seal a dramatic 2–1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The result cut leaders Arsenal’s advantage at the top of the table back to six points and handed Pep Guardiola’s side a crucial lifeline in the title race.

City looked set for defeat after Dominik Szoboszlai fired Liverpool ahead with a stunning free-kick. The hosts controlled large spells of the game and appeared on course to claim all three points.

However, the contest swung dramatically late on. With six minutes remaining, Bernardo Silva equalised to spark a frantic finish inside Anfield.

Deep into stoppage time, City were awarded a penalty following a VAR review, which also saw Szoboszlai sent off. Haaland kept his composure from the spot to complete the turnaround and put the visitors in front.

City briefly thought they had added a third goal moments later, but it was ruled out, though it did little to dampen their celebrations.

The win delivers a major psychological boost for Manchester City as the Premier League season enters its decisive phase, while Liverpool were left to rue a collapse that came with just minutes remaining.
