Manchester United remained unbeaten under interim manager Michael Carrick after Benjamin Šeško struck a dramatic last-gasp equaliser in a 1–1 Premier League draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Tuesday.
United were heading for their first defeat of Carrick’s brief reign after Tomáš Souček’s second-half goal put the hosts ahead. But with seconds remaining, Šeško found the net to rescue a point and preserve Carrick’s five-game unbeaten start.
Since replacing the sacked Ruben Amorim, Carrick has revitalised United with victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham. While this display was the least convincing of his tenure, the late response underlined the resilience he has instilled.
The draw keeps United fourth in the Premier League, one point clear of Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification.
For West Ham, the dropped points were costly. Still third from bottom, the Hammers remain two points behind Nottingham Forest, who have a game in hand against Wolves on Wednesday.
Carrick, in charge until the end of the season, continues to build a compelling case as United’s players once again refused to accept defeat.
