Victor Boniface has criticised popular streamers Carterefe and Peller following their controversial livestream in which they damaged each other’s cars.
The pair stunned viewers on Saturday night when they were seen smashing the windscreens of each other’s vehicles during what appeared to be a staged stunt broadcast live online.
The incident quickly triggered outrage across social media, with many condemning the act as irresponsible and accusing the streamers of promoting violence and toxic behaviour for entertainment.
Boniface reportedly joined Carterefe’s livestream via phone call to express his displeasure over the incident.
“What you and Peller did is rubbish. You are currently on livestream, I want to talk to you privately. Let me know when you are done streaming,” he said to Carterefe over the phone.
Following the exchange, Carterefe appeared remorseful after being reprimanded by the Super Eagles striker.
Despite this, backlash has continued to trail the stunt, with several online users warning that such actions could have dangerous consequences. Some critics also referenced similar incidents in other countries that reportedly resulted in fatalities, cautioning content creators against escalating risky behaviour for views.
