The Presidency has stated that Bola Tinubu attained office in 2023 by divine will, despite criticism from opponents.
The remark was made by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, while responding to comments by broadcast journalist Rufai Oseni regarding alleged irregularities in recent area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Oseni had raised concerns about what he described as discrepancies in election results involving the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a post on X, Onanuga accused the journalist of spreading falsehoods and harbouring what he termed “pathological hatred” for the ruling party. He defended the integrity of the result sheet referenced by Oseni, stating that it clearly reflected the total votes recorded at the polling unit and that the APC’s figures were consistent with the overall tally.
“I expect you to have outgrown your pathological hatred for our party, since May 2023, when Almighty God gave power to President Tinubu,” Onanuga wrote.
The exchange highlights continuing tensions between government officials and media commentators over issues of electoral transparency and political accountability.
