Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon said on Saturday that President Bola Tinubu is “doing the best he can all round” in managing Nigeria’s affairs.
After meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Gowon commended the president’s performance and leadership across politics, the economy, social development, and security.
“As far as it goes, isn’t he doing the best he can all round? There’s no particular area. In political, economic, social realms—and especially in addressing security—he’s doing everything for Nigeria’s good,” Gowon said.
When asked where Tinubu could improve, the elder statesman noted that the administration is already tackling the country’s key challenges, adding, “There is no particular place.” He also said Tinubu “has to look after the
interests of Nigeria in all areas,” he added.
Gowon explained that his visit to the Presidential Villa was primarily to appreciate the president’s efforts and acknowledge what he described as progress being made under the current administration.
“I came to see him and to thank him for all the good work that he’s doing for the country.
“We had to look at all the good work that the president is doing and the progress that Nigeria is making economically and otherwise,” he said.
