Bruno Mars has denied claims that he liked an Instagram post describing fellow singer Taylor Swift as “talentless.”
On Sunday, reports circulated on social media alleging that the “Just the Way You Are” hitmaker had liked a post criticizing Swift and questioning how she became famous.
The controversial post showed Swift performing and included the caption, “Genuinely how did she get famous? White privilege is crazy because imagine if an Asian was as talentless as her.”
The post was said to have originated from social media news outlet Pop Base but was falsely attributed to the official X account of the K-pop group BTS.
Fans later alleged that Bruno Mars had liked the post, with the claim also shared by pop culture social media account Pop Faction.
Responding to the speculation, Mars took to X on Sunday to dismiss the claims and stress that there was no conflict between him and Swift.
“Taylor has always been supportive and kind to me. Only love over here,” the singer wrote, before adding in a separate post, “Spread Love on these apps!”
Pop Faction also reported that Mars has “since unliked the post.”
Swift and Bruno Mars have frequently competed on music charts during their careers. Earlier this year, Mars’ comeback single I Just Might overtook Swift on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, ending a 15-week run by her song The Fate of Ophelia.
