“It’s a National Duty” — Tinubu Launches Support Fund for Armed Forces

Tinubu Holds Crucial Meeting with APC Governors Ahead of Party’s NEC Summit

President Bola Tinubu has launched a dedicated support fund for Nigeria’s Armed Forces, aimed at assisting wounded soldiers and the families of personnel who died in service.

The initiative was announced on Sunday as part of activities marking his 74th birthday.

According to the president, the fund is designed to recognise the sacrifices of military personnel and provide structured support for injured service members, as well as widows, widowers, and children of fallen heroes.

He directed the Accountant-General of the Federation to establish a special account for the programme, which will serve as the central pool for contributions and disbursements.

Tinubu also made a personal commitment, pledging all his salaries since assuming office as seed funding for the initiative.

He called on state governors, members of the National Assembly, private sector players, and well-meaning Nigerians to contribute, noting that full operational details of the fund will be made public soon.

“Supporting the Armed Forces and their families is not charity but a national duty,” he said.

The president reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of military personnel, stressing that those who serve the country should be treated with dignity and supported beyond their years of active duty.
