Wireless Festival has been cancelled after UK authorities denied entry to its headline act, Kanye West, widely known as Ye.
The decision followed backlash over the rapper’s planned performance at the London-based festival, with the UK government refusing his travel request on public interest grounds.
In a statement, organisers confirmed the development, saying the Home Office had withdrawn Ye’s Electronic Travel Authorisation, effectively blocking him from entering the country.
“As a result, and refunds will be issued to all ticket holders,” the statement read.
Why the Decision Was MadeWireless Festival is cancelled
According to the UK Home Office, the refusal was based on concerns that Ye’s presence would not be conducive to the public good. The move comes after years of controversy surrounding his public statements, including widely criticised antisemitic and offensive remarks.
Festival organisers noted that multiple stakeholders were consulted before booking him and claimed no concerns were raised at the time. However, they acknowledged the seriousness of the issues, stating that antisemitism in all forms is unacceptable.
Fallout and Reactions
The cancellation also follows reports that sponsors began pulling out amid the controversy, leaving the event without key support and a headline act.
A spokesperson for the Campaign Against Antisemitism criticised the situation, questioning how concerns were not identified earlier in the booking process.
What Happens Next
All ticket holders are expected to receive refunds following the cancellation.
The development highlights the growing scrutiny of artists’ public conduct and its potential impact on major events, especially in markets with strict entry and public-interest regulations.
