What was billed as a chaotic celebrity clash ended in a decisive statement, as Carter Efe walked away with victory, money, and a new nickname after defeating Portable at Chaos in the Ring 4 in Lagos.
Carter Efe dominated Portable on Friday night at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, securing a unanimous decision win that crowned him the new celebrity boxing champion and earned him a N50 million cash prize.
All three judges scored the bout 27 to 30 in his favour, reflecting a clean sweep across the three-round contest. From the opening bell, Carter Efe appeared composed and tactical, controlling distance and tempo in a way that limited Portable’s usual aggressive bursts.
Speaking immediately after the fight, Carter Efe wasted no time framing the performance as dominant. He described the bout as straightforward, claiming he had already inflicted damage in the first round, saw signs of weakness in the second, and fully overwhelmed his opponent by the third.
Riding the momentum, he also rebranded himself with a bold new identity, declaring that he should now be known as “Carter Mayweather.”
When a member of the crowd compared him to Anthony Joshua, he quickly shut it down, insisting on his own unique label rather than aligning with existing boxing figures.
Beyond the immediate win, Carter Efe hinted at bigger ambitions. He expressed interest in taking his boxing journey beyond Nigeria, suggesting that this victory could be the start of something more serious on an international level.
While he left the door open for a possible rematch with Portable, he made it clear that rest comes first after an intense buildup and performance.
The night also delivered on its financial promise. Emeka Okonkwo confirmed that the N50 million reward pledged for the winner would be honoured, reinforcing the stakes that made the event one of the most talked-about celebrity fights in recent times.
But while Carter Efe celebrated, Portable told a very different story.
Taking to Instagram Live after the bout, Portable rejected the result, claiming he was unfairly treated during the fight. He argued that Carter Efe used his height and reach to his advantage in a way he considered unprofessional, insisting that many of his own punches were not properly counted.
He went further to demand what he described as his share of the event’s streaming revenue, placing the figure at N200 million, and warned organizers to address it.
Despite the defeat, Portable shifted focus to a personal milestone that overshadowed the night for him. He revealed that his partner had just given birth to a baby boy, stating that the arrival of his child meant more than any boxing title.
The result marks a turning point in the celebrity boxing scene. Portable had entered the fight as the reigning champion, with previous wins over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington. That streak has now been snapped, handing the spotlight and the belt to a new name.
For Carter Efe, the victory is more than just a win. It is a reintroduction. From skitmaker to boxer, from entertainer to headline act, he has added a new layer to his public identity, and if his post fight words are anything to go by, he is only just getting started.
